  Gardner�s world of mezzanines top
How long does it take to build a mezzanine floor bigger than a football pitch? Just five and a half weeks against a delivery time of six weeks. This huge 4,600 sq m floor (50,000 sq ft), costing nearly a quarter of a million pounds, included eight flights of stairs and more than 100m of handrail and safety kickboarding. The floor was also fitted with Gardner's latest innovation, the up and over safety GardGate, which makes pallet loading and unloading on a mezzanine floor safer than ever before.

Leading loading and unloading equipment specialist Thorworld Industries Ltd will feature its comprehensive range of loading bay equipment, safety aids and accessories on stand M300, where it will also introduce its 2007/8 Product Range Catalogue.

  See the latest Flexi truck top
Visitors will be able to see the latest version of the highly successful FLEXI articulated truck from Narrow Aisle Ltd.

This electric-powered FLEXI Generation 4, or G4 as the new model is known, is bristling with features that will prove attractive to both operators and specifiers, such as an operator presence switch fitted into the seat.

Keymas-Egeminwill exhibit details of automated handling and storage solutions, from simple but efficient product conveying through to fully integrated turnkey systems. These include automated guided vehicles (AGVs) which can be supplied with customised controls to ensure full track traceability of production and sortation sequences through to storage and despatch.

Keymas-Egemin will also exhibit powered roller conveyors in mild and stainless steel for handling cartons, cases, shrink-wrapped packs, tote bins, boxes and pallets.

  Momote gets the workforce moving top
For companies thinking about mobilising their workforce, Momote has designed the MX platform, which eases the effective deployment of mobile applications and solutions while empowering those with technology skills.

At 1.45pm each day at Logistics Link Live, Momote will present the findings of a recent survey, conducted with analyst firm Freeform Dynamics, which explores the pros and cons of going mobile. It is not a logistical minefield and Momote aims to dispel the common misconceptions that invariably lead to mobility projects being pushed down the list of priorities.

SCA Tuscarora will be demonstrating its award-winning PolyPallet™ returnable materials handling system. PolyPallet™ addresses the market need for a high-strength, but lightweight, returnable transit container. It is ideal for closed loop cycles as the sleeve collapses down to fit within the outer perimeter of the pallet and the lid locks firmly over the top to create a flat pack for the return journey. Reducing the volume assists transport cost savings.

PolyPallet™ is available with corrugated or plastic corrugated sidewalls and lid. The pallet base is manufactured from expanded foam. The sidewalls are held firmly to the pallet by a unique �stirrup� lock. PolyPallet™ also has RFID capability.

  Roller doors open a range of possibilities top
Ro-Dor, the Stockbridge, Hampshire-based market leader in the design and manufacture of PVCu roller doors, will be displaying three widely used doors.

The double-skin PVCu roller shutter door is easily cleaned and suitable for manufacturing areas, chillers and distribution bays. It is constructed from high impact material with both thermal and acoustic properties, and has a degree of flex, so it can absorb minor impact and revert to its original position.

The Dynaco rapid door range has a number of safety benefits, notably the absence of reinforcing bars, while still providing resistance to wind.   Advice for transport managers drives efficiency top
The Freight Best Practice programme will be showing two new products aimed at helping to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency: the Transport Operators� Pack (TOP) and a DVD entitled �Drive It � Driving Truck Fleet Performance�.

The TOP is designed for those with day-to-day vehicle and driver responsibility and provides excellent practical support material to help fleet operators implement best practice in the workplace.

Following on from the huge success of the updated �Save it� DVD, the 25-minute DVD �Drive It� aims to inform and educate drivers and transport managers about operational efficiency.   ATMS opens Singapore office top
Warehouse management systems provider ATMS plc has opened a third overseas office to serve the company�s growing Middle Eastern market. ATMS plc�s Singapore office, opened earlier this year, complements the company�s operations in Dubai and China, which opened in 2003.

  Minster gives voice to warehouse management top
Minster Logistics has launched its fully voice-enabled Warehouse Management System. This state-of-the-art system covers all aspects of the warehousing operation including receipt of goods, put-away, replenishment, picking, marshalling, loading, full stock takes and perpetual inventory stock takes.

Central to the system is the voice management console. This allows all warehousing activity to be monitored, controlled and progressed, with a high-level view of each activity, a graphical indication of progress towards completion of the current warehouse workload, and drill-down options to monitor the progress of individual tasks and the operators performing them.

The console features an alerts panel that instantly highlights issues requiring urgent management attention, such as empty picking locations or where a picking shortage has been detected.

  RedPrairie relieves tax troubles top
RedPrairie, a leading consumer-driven optimisation company, has announced the release of DLx® DutyManagement 2007.1, enabling businesses to reduce and delay tax payments in line with the latest HM Revenue & Customs regulations.

The new release supports the entry of invoices, certificates and licences prior to the receipt of goods, allowing goods to be available immediately upon receipt. For the first time, it also enables companies that assemble and manufacture from imported components to take advantage of regulations that can reduce or eliminate customs duty payments, delivering higher profit margins and improved cash flow.

DLx DutyManagement releases expected later in the year will further reduce the cost of HMRC compliance and increase user productivity. The ability to repack products under bond will enable duty to be paid even later. RFID will improve shipment efficiency and security, and expanded browser-based capabilities will give companies and their customers greater visibility of information.

Support for SAD harmonisation, authorised economic operators, single access point and the modernised customs code will follow as each of these initiatives comes into effect, providing new opportunities to reduce and delay tax payments.

  Vianetic streamlines scheduling and ordering top
Vianetic has extended its warehouse management system VWMS with a new look booking diary and online ordering module.

The booking system incorporates the scheduling and management of deliveries to the warehouse based on an intuitive interface which allows a delivery to be booked in with just a few clicks of the mouse. The ordering website will allow customers to raise or amend orders, view their order history or query the status of outstanding orders.

Welconstruct recently completed a contract to install a £600,000 three-level mezzanine floor in conjunction with a major 3PL logistics provider.

As a supplier to one of Britain�s leading retailers, House of Fraser, Welconstruct installed a 3,500 sq ft floor with minimal downtime and disruption to the surrounding live warehouse.

The contract involved the extension of the existing mezzanine floor at House of Fraser�s distribution centre and creating three new floors of storage for clothing and household products.

LINPAC Storage Systems, one of Europe's leading suppliers of storage solutions, will be exhibiting its UK- manufactured range of racking and shelving products on stand M203.

Visitors to LINPAC's stand will be shown the company�s innovative long span clip system.   Edmolift raises the stakes top
Edmolift UK has chosen Materials Handling Live to launch the EZ1000 , a manoeuvrable scissor lift trolley. The product is a break-through in lift trolley design, says Darren Papani, sales director at Edmolift. The trolley has a 235 degree turning angle making it ideal for confined environments such as narrow aisles.

Icthings.com has upgraded its IC500e location device to provide increased protection and control over trailers and mobile assets.

This latest version has specially developed casing that ensures added protection of the power management and location technology within the IC500e unit, while the compact design makes it easy to conceal. The unit is also available with high power magnets to achieve effortless installation.

Increased GPS sensitivity improves reliability, and advanced low power management ensures extremely low consumption, enabling the IC500e location device to operate for up to three years on just six AA batteries.

  Bendi narrows it down top
The Bendi was designed in the early 1980s to compete in reach truck aisles of approximately 2.4m. Customers demanded greater performance so the design was enhanced to work in smaller aisles. With the launch of the Bendi B3 range the company has the capability to work comfortably and safely in 1.6m aisles, which out-performs most VNA (very narrow aisle) machines.

For companies that need to reduce storage space or increase the amount stored, the Bendi B3 is an extremely cost effective way to handle pallets on pallet racking.

Exhibiting at Materials Handling Live for the first time are Caydor Industrial Doors Limited, loading bay equipment and high speed door specialists.

Being manufacturers since 1986, they have equipment in use on sites nationwide.

Recent developments include their own LED traffic lights, stainless steel dock lights, moving dock bumpers and polyethylene, stainless steel and painted protection posts.

At the show they will have one of their latest high speed doors the GS305 which has knock-out and reinsertion facilities and will be complemented by the three versions of swing door � two polyethylene doors and a pvc sheet door.
